This year’s workshop will take place on Friday, October 21, from 10:00-3:30 at the

Wentworth Library (West St. Paul)

West St. Paul, MN 55118

This year, we have four speakers:

* The Minnesota Appellate Process with Rita Coyle DeMeules, Supreme Court Commissioner

* The Probate Process, Joel Olson, Ramsey Probate Court Referee

* Landlord/Tenant Issues, Larry McDonough, Pro Bono Counsel, Dorsey & Whitney LLP

* Professional Responsibility for attorneys working at legal advice clinics, Susan Humiston, Director of the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility

In addition, we will have a group discussion during lunch to discuss current issues relevant to law librarians.

Post mortem:

Feedback on this program was generally good.  There was one request to get more information about briefs for self-represented litigants.  The State Law Library has an appeals research guide with information about the Appellate and Supreme Court.  In addition, their research guide for Appellate briefs is located here.  This guide has sample formal and informal briefs, tips for preparing appellate briefs,  books and other guides, links to court rules, and more.
